Raflon™ is PTFE thick-walled blanks subjected to ionizing radiation (we use bremsstrahlung to irradiate PTFE blanks with a thickness of more than 1 cm), which leads to a fundamental change in the structure and morphology of the polymer: instead of the lamellar structure inherent in the base PTFE, a spherulite is formed, consisting of many nanofibrils that diverge in radius from one common center. This structure is characterized by isotropy and significantly better physical and mechanical properties in terms of wear resistance and cold flow compared to the starting material.
